Dress-up!
About a year ago, my next door neighbor, a middle-aged woman named Sandy, came to my door with a box full of frilly dresses that had once belonged to her daughter. She solemnly explained to me that she had carefully preserved them for over twenty years with hopes of one day passing them on to her grandchildren. Her daughter, however, recently informed her that she doesn’t want to have any children. So Sandy has decided to give the dresses to me.
It was very sweet and kind of sad. I knew I wouldn’t really use the dresses, but I couldn’t just reject her offer. I took the box, thanked her, then placed it in the basement, where it has been sitting ever since. Until yesterday, that is.
Perhaps I’ll give Sandy some copies.
